See, I thought I was off the hook from the "drama queen" label because the oh-so-real drama in my life isn't self-generated or blown out of proportion, but damn it, now I have to be a type 1.

Damn it! I'm a drama queen!

How about not calling people names? I generally find that folks who go around labeling others as "Drama Queens" tend to be, themselves, the most dramatic ones in the bunch. In other words, those who have very little drama in their lives/personalities generally don't feel a need to go around making a big noisy deal out of how "dramatic" this person is or how much they "just HATE drama!" - they simply, gracefully and quietly, avoid engaging in it and get on with their lives.

Unless, of course, they're Psychology professionals whose job it is to give people advice. :-) Thanks to the author for an insightful article.

How about “drama royalty”?

How about Drama Queen? Everyone already knows what the term means; "drama royalty" sounds like someone who has spent years in theatre and is now considered "royalty."

But...If I quiet the drama the sparklies go a away, pout, pout....the intensity disappears....sniff, sniff....

Actually, I enjoy the peace of less drama, but I have occassionally noticed a sadness about lack of intensity. Then I look back and realize what caused the intensity and decide not to repeat that behavior. So, now I am in the process of looking for healthy ways to be intense!

I've been a drama royalty before. I've run a kingdom of drama!
not that this is the greatest thing to boast but! there is something to be said for admitting one's self-destructive and self-sabotaging tendencies.
I am commited to evolving out of drama-life and I'm doing good so far but there are always areas to improve.
Always getting better!

I’ll start using the term Drama Capsule the day they start selling capsules loaded with drama over-the-counter at Wal-Greens.

How about "drama royalty"? As Sparkler sitting next to me here in bed observes, it preserves the self-centeredness without being sexist.

Great half an article! (no offense, but I skipped the second half, as it seemed to be talking directly to those who have drama issues)

Now as to Drama Queen/Drama Capsule... I'll start using the term Drama Capsule the day they start selling capsules loaded with drama over-the-counter at Wal-Greens. I think it's a particularly stupid and unnecessary term replacement. And "queen" is not gender specific to begin with. I know guys who are queens, and many women who are not. It's a fairly well established term. It's only gender specific when used in the context of actual royalty, of which we have none in this country. I do, however, like your distinctions of Drama Magnet and Drama Addict. I've met both types, and those are good descriptives. Drama Queen is a good generic to use until figuring out which flavor a given person is, though.
