		<description>The HALT checklist is something I was first recommended as a young teen (about 25 years ago) during a babysitting class; the theory was that it&#039;s counterproductive to discipline a 2-year-old who&#039;s misbehaving as a result of being tired &amp; hungry.  It&#039;s been a great parenting tool for me.

As an adult, I think of the &quot;A&quot; standing for not only &quot;angry&quot; but also &quot;anxious.&quot;  Anxiety seems to provoke nearly as many stupid things as anger.</description>
